Donald Sterling walks into a black church, no seriously, Donald Sterling the embattled Los Angeles owner walked into a South L.A. church and sat for a 2-hour service Sunday, TMZ reports.
It is unclear if Sterling, who arrived at the Praises of Zion Baptist church with bodyguards, came for any other reason that to hear the good word, as he didn’t speak to any members of the church, TMZ reports.
According to sources that spoke with the gossip site, the church visit was planned several days before the sale of the team was announced. TMZ believes that the church visit may have been apart of bigger public apology tour that Sterling and his people have drummed up but also questions why Sterling would go through with the visit if he had nothing to gain.
TMZ notes that some 30 people were present for the church service when Sterling arrived with his entourage and that one member was so upset that he took his children and walked out.
But not everyone was upset about Sterling’s visit. TMZ cameras rushed the departing owner to ask his feelings on former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer buying the team, Sterling didn’t answer, but an African-American woman greeted Sterling warmly as he made his way to his car.
