Solutions Sunday in Frayser, the Our Children Matter March in Downtown Memphis and a police-community relations event in Hickory Hill were elements of the observation of the one-year anniversary of the protests that led to the shutdown of the I-40/Hernando DeSoto Bridge.

The bridge shutdown occurred on July 10, 2016. A community conversation/public forum related to the anniversary is set for Abyssinian Baptist Church at 3890 Millbranch Road at 7 p.m. this evening (Monday).

Coverage of the anniversary will be featured in this week's print edition of The New Tri-State Defender.
