newsroom@tri-statedefender.com | 6/6/2007, 7 p.m.

This event is known for drawing BBQ’ers from all over the nation, each cooking up the best ribs, pork, chicken, and beef brisket for a shot at some of the $25,000 in cash and prizes. The estimated 80 KCBS cooking teams this year will come from as far away as Texas, North and South Dakota, South Carolina, Virginia, Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia and the Mid-South surrounding states. Other competitions will draw from all over the Mid-South area.
If KCBS competition doesn’t light up your coals, how about the Kroger “Anything Butt” contest with a $1000 grand prize or show us how good your ribs are in the “Backyard Rib” competition. There’s even a contest for the best “Dessert,” “BBQ Sauce,” “Margaretta” and don’t forget the Kids Cooking contest.
The two-day event is free to the general public. On Friday night, there will be entertainment with BBQ concessions and beverages to satisfy those barbecue cravings.
