Bill spares lawmaker from paying disputed taxes

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — The Illinois House has passed a bill that spares a lawmaker from paying taxes owed on an office lease.

In a 60-54 vote, the House spared Democratic Rep. Monique Davis from paying leaseholder taxes on her district office.

Chicago Board of Education officials say Davis' office lease ended in 2002 and she stopped paying rent.
