Police: 1 injured in Illinois workplace shooting

MANTENO, Ill. (AP) — Police in northern Illinois were searching Wednesday for a suspect they say wounded a man in a workplace shooting at a distribution warehouse in northeastern Illinois, a law enforcement official said.

The suspect fled the scene in Manteno, about 50 miles south of Chicago, in a vehicle, Kankakee County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Ken McCabe said. The department received a report of shots fired just before 2 p.m. and one victim was taken to a hospital, McCabe said. The victim's condition was not released.

Authorities have identified the suspect and are searching for him, McCabe said.

"We know who we're looking for," McCabe said.

McCabe said police believe the suspect had left the area and said that the facility is secure.

Police originally identified the shooting site as a Tyson Foods facility, but officials at Tyson Foods Inc. said it is not their warehouse.
