Comebacks and turnarounds, dying young and more

Each year, I try to get away to a new city and recharge, and recharge I did. Chicago is a great city that plays out on scale that makes one thankful for GPS.

Back in the saddle

For the first time in months, I am well rested! Well. not really. However, I am quite happy I got a chance to get out of the city and unwind for a few days. Each year, I try to get away to a new city and recharge, and recharge I did. Chicago is a great city that plays out on scale that makes one thankful for GPS. I am glad to be back home and now that I am fully recharged, I’m ready to get back to doing what I do!

Remembering Amy

Her biggest hit talked about her being encouraged to go to rehab and her declining. Now Amy Winehouse is dead, with speculation rampant about an apparent overdose. It’s a painful scenario that we could almost see coming. For years, there have actually been periodic, but false, reports of her dying. This time, it’s true. She now joins the ranks of other entertainers – Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin – who died in their late 20’s associated with drug overdoses.

El Debarge & Joe

Looks like El Debarge has gotten himself together and is ready to put on a great show. He is coming to town, along with Joe for Superstars of Soul, and is scheduled for the Cannon Center on Saturday, Oct. 1. Tickets are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com and the Cannon Center Box office.

Jill Scott & Anthony Hamilton

Set your dial to memorable and get ready for Jill Scott and Anthony Hamilton, along with Mint Condition. You know Mint Condition is actually my number one favorite band in the world right? DJ Jazzy Jeff will also be there and the show will be hosted by Hip Hop veteran, Doug E. Fresh. It’s gonna be August 17 at the FedExForum. Get your tickets now at all Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and the FedExForum box office.

Basketball to Business Summit

Metamorphoses is pleased to announce the inaugural Basketball to Business Summit being held on August 20 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Temple of Deliverance Church of God in Christ. The event will target men and boys of all ages.
The threefold purpose is inspiring boys and young men to strive for a positive future, encouraging adult men to get involved in the lives of young men and boys in our community and benefiting Metamorphoses, which is a 501 c 3 non-profit organization that helps turn around the lives of juvenile offenders and troubled youth. Judge Greg Mathis will be the keynote speaker.

The return of the ‘mag’

After planning and shifting duties and giving up about 10 percent of the little sleep I already get, I have decided to bring back the What’s Happening Myron Magazine.
More good news? It returns this week and it will be a weekly electronic publication. So, If you wanna get in on it, go to the website now and check it out!

My BIG News
