Puttin’ in the work yields big-time payday

Broadcast giant Viacom has teamed with the Get Schooled Foundation and the White House to present the “Top Commencement Challenge Special.” Who says hard work doesn’t pay?

Just a few weeks ago the 2011 graduating class of Booker T Washington High School welcomed President Barack Obama to Memphis as he delivered the 2011 commencement speech. Days later, it was announced that a couple of those students received the opportunity to become White House interns.

Well, it seems like success knows no limit in this particular circumstance.  Just in case America did not get the full story on these students, I don’t think that will be an issue now.

Broadcast giant Viacom has teamed with the Get Schooled Foundation and the White House to present the “Top Commencement Challenge Special.” Viacom is the parent company to some of the most popular cable channels such as BET, Comedy Central, MTV as well as Nickelodeon. The 30-minute special follows the students of BTW as they win this year’s Race to the Top Commencement Challenge and the opportunity to have the president speak at their graduation.

If you’d like to catch the special, you’ll have multiple opportunities. It airs on TeenNick on Thursday (June 9) at 2 p.m., June 11 at 12:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 12 at 7:30 a.m.

MTVU will air the special on June 11 at 7 p.m. CT and June 18 at 8 a.m., with Comedy Central the host on June 13 at 3 p.m.
