Whalum, the wife of the Rev. Dr. Kenneth T. Whalum Jr., astor of The New Olivet Baptist Church, sets out to present a “witty and honest look into the bitter truth about men, relationships, lies, and infidelity.”
“The Stimulus Package” – Whalum’s third book – was written in response to massive media surge and the steady rise in divorce.
“I wanted to give an open and honest look at marriage and infidelity. If couples knew the stages of marriage, the reasons men cheat, and the behaviors that indicate that their marriage is on the decline, perhaps they can take steps to prevent it from taking a turn for the worst,” says Whalum, who celebrates her 29th wedding anniversary on June 19. Whalum, the mother of three sons, is president of Aliehs, Inc., parent company of O’Sheila’s Beauty and Barber Shop and Christ-Like Modeling. She retired from City of Memphis Government as the Deputy Director of Finance in 2010. She is also past City liaison for the Memphis Shelby County Airport Authority Board.
Whalum’s previous books are “Destined to be a Preachers Wife” and “Pretty Woman Too.”
A book signing and discussion of “The Stimulus Package: Why Men Cheat” will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on June 11 at Barnes & Noble Bookstore, 2274 N. Germantown Parkway.
