In her salon, Healthy Hair Solutions Salon & Spa, Bolden-Carter offers everything from cuts to weaves, lowlights to highlights, brow maintenance, waxing for hair removal, and paraffin wax treatments with manicures and pedicures. Here she talks about her success with maintaining the manicured look of busy professionals.
Carlee McCullough, Esq: How did you decide to open your own salon?
CM: What services do you offer at Healthy Hair Solutions Salon & Spa?
CBC: We’re a full service salon specializing in the health of the hair, nails and skin. We offer personal hair care, hair additions, makeup, and nail care.
CM: What services would you recommend to the busy professional and why?
CBC: In general, professional clients should have a precision hair cut, clean manicured nails & healthy skin.
CM: Describe the diversity of your clientele?
CBC: We cater to all hair types and texture. We offer a variety of services to meet every budget.
CM: What haircut and styling trends are your business clients requesting?
CBC: My clients are requesting bobs, tapered cuts and long layers. However, what’s most important is that the hair is cut in a precision style.
CM: As it relates to hair, is there a difference between a business professional look and a casual look? If so, what are the differences?
CBC: No, business professional hairstyles are low maintenance, precision haircuts, and they are usually weekly clients. The casual look clients also prefer low-to-no maintenance styles similar to the professional clients.
CM: Generally what would you like people to know about Healthy Hair Solutions Salon & Spa?
CBC: Healthy Hair Solutions is a relaxing, professional, calm environment with no long waits. We also provide free Wi-Fi to keep our clients connected.
CM: As a female business owner, what advice do you have for young women that are in or are looking to be a business owner in this industry?
CBC: I would advise someone interested in going into business to select a business that you’re passionate about, create a vision, and stay focused. Also you must be willing to work 25 hours per day.
CM: What is your business philosophy?
CBC: My business philosophy is to go above and beyond for our clients and treat others how we would love to be treated.
CM: What is your greatest business achievement?
CBC: I would have to say completing my Masters in Cosmetology Instructors’ Program.
CM: What’s next for Carolyn Bolden-Carter?
CBC: My aspiration is to open a beauty school.
CM: Any closing words?
CBC: Remain passionate about your business and you will never get tired of it. Best regards.
