Southern gospel quartet bound for France festival

The Voices of Peace, Love and Harmony have been invited as one of 15 groups from around the world to perform at the 53rd Annual Confelons and Montoire International Festivals in France. The Voices of Peace, Love and Harmony have been invited as one of 15 groups from around the world to perform at the 53rd Annual Confelons and Montoire International Festivals in France from Aug. 8 through Aug. 15.

The members of the group are Cheri Wells, former background singer for Patti LaBelle; Janet Olsen, singer, songwriter and widow of the legendary James Austin of The Platters; Rhonda Allison, an accomplished singer and musician; and singer and songwriter Vivian Berryhill, founder/President of the National Coalition of Pastors’ Spouses.

The Voices of Peace, Love and Harmony is an integrated singing aggregation organized by Berryhill. The group’s mission is to promote Southern, traditional gospel music. At the festival the group will present myriad styles of Southern gospel music, including Bluegrass gospel, traditional black gospel, quartet gospel, metered/slave gospel, and inspirational gospel.

“This is the first time in this festival’s history that Southern, traditional gospel music will be featured/performed,” said Berryhill. “Gospel music has a rich, soul-stirring history in this nation, and we are excited for the opportunity to share it in Confelon, Montoire and Toulouse, France.”

In addition to their daily performances, members of Voices of Peace, Love and Harmony will present a 90-minute workshop on the varied gospel art forms to the international community. This is the first American group afforded such an opportunity to share this culturally historic music, and represent the United States of America.

Other groups representing their nation’s cultural arts will include groups from Poland, Mexico, Iran, Portugal, Romania, Argentina, Italy, Macedonia, and Indonesia.
