Mitsubishi Electric executives will join local civic and business leaders at the event to turn the first earth for the $200 million, 350,000-sq. ft. factory that will initially produce large power transformers. Construction is scheduled to begin in late spring 2011 to support production in 2013.
Speakers will include Brian Heery (Misubishi president and CEO of MEPPI), Mayor A C Wharton Jr., Shelby County Mark H. Luttrell Jr. and Ken Badaracco, general manager of the Mitsubishi Power Transformer Division.
Mitsubishi expects to hire about 275 people, most locally, with recruiting set to begin this year.
