The annual awards program begins at 7 p.m. (BENNY is an acronym for Black Entrepreneurship and Networking Needs You.)
David A. Hinson, who heads up the Minority Business Development Agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce, will deliver the keynote address.
Prior to joining the MBDA, Hinson, who is a St. Louis native, was president and CEO of Wealth Management Network, a financial advisory boutique. He has held a number of senior level and mid-level management positions with such companies as Bank of America, Morgan Stanley & Company and JP Morgan Chase.
The BENNY Awards honor service and retail businesses, corporations and business professionals who have reached new heights, provided exemplary service, business opportunities, or leadership to further the vision of minority entrepreneurship, empowerment, business development or community service.
The Black Business Association (BBA) of Memphis is a trade association founded in 1974. It is supported by the City of Memphis Department of Housing and Community Development.
