Friday, July 25th marked the beginning of online voting for the 2014 Best in Black (BIB) Awards Competition hosted by The New Tri-State Defender. It is now time for the public to vote for their favorite businesses across 64 unique categories at www.bestinblackawards.com.
In it’s third year, the Best In Black Awards will shine light upon some of the best African-American businesses, community organizations and entrepreneurs in the Mid-South. This year’s two-week business nomination period garnered nearly 600 nominations online. Voting will end at midnight on August 9.
“This is a creative way to poll the community about the individuals, businesses and organizations that they most support while identifying those with the best brands and reputations,” said President and Publisher of The New Tri-State Defender Bernal E. Smith, II.
The three highest recipients in each of the top 25 categories will be invited to the Best in Black Pre-Awards VIP Reception and the Best in Black Awards Ceremony featuring live performances and presentations at the Cook Convention Center on August 30th. The event is sponsored by BizTweet Local, Ford Motor Company, Cigna, 1Solution Auto Network and Memphis10 Magazine.
“This has proven to be an incredible platform for acknowledging individuals and businesses that the community recognizes as the best,” Smith said.
